Carrie & Rolando's Intimate Backyard Wedding / Trappist Monastery Provincial Heritage Park

This was a fun wedding to shoot because I knew both the bride Carrie, and the groom Rolando. I had worked with the both of them during my time at the Victoria General Hospital and I was so happy I was able to capture their special day. It was a beautiful backyard wedding at their lovely home and we got a chance to do some portraits at Trappist Monastery Heritage Park. It’s one of my favourite places to shoot just because of all of the wonderful architecture and variety! Thanks again for having me be a part of your special day ❤️.

Shania & Paolo’s Beautiful Backyard Wedding

A bit of planning is all it took to turn this backyard into a beautiful backdrop for a wonderful wedding day!

A had the wonderful opportunity to meet Shania and Paolo a couple of months before their backyard wedding day. Due to the changing restrictions, they opted to keep it simple but elegant when planning their special day. Leading up to the day I remember the weather forecast being pretty bleak with chances of thundershowers throughout the day but low and behold the day of the wedding turned out to be a beautiful overcast / sunny day. I don’t think I’ve had such an easy couple to work with before but these two were a dream to work with and capture. Easy going and go with the flow type personalities, these two were so fun to be around the entire day. Thanks Shania and Paolo. You made this long day one not to forget any time soon.

Jessica & Jonny's Beautiful Engagement Session @ Grand Beach

Timing the perfect sunset is hard but trying to time it perfectly for a beach session is even harder! But we had some luck for Jessica & Jonny’s engagement session this past summer. If I recall correctly, I think we planned this probably within 1-2 days when Jessica messaged me and had this crazy idea to scrap their original idea and go with this beach session instead. And boy was I glad she did because even during the session, I could see all the crazy colours the sky was giving off and this is basically a photographers dream to have that orange / purple sky to shoot in. They even brought out their paddle board to get out into the water to end off the session and these were so much fun to capture. All in all, the night was perfect. I think this has convinced me to get out here more often next summer to shoot! Sessions like this reminds me why I started taking photos in the first place.

Matthew & Hope: Dreamy Sunset Elopement at Trappist Monastery Provincial Heritage Park

i always try and time for a 10-15 sunset session during a wedding day and these usually end up being some of my client’s favourite images from the day!

Matthew and Hope had contacted me a month before their wedding elopement and wanted to get some quick photos of their special day together. They had asked me about times and locations and to me and if I have total control of when I can take these photos, it will always be during golden hour / sunset. These are some of my favourite images to take on any type of shoot / day because the light is just so amazing! Combine that with a beautiful location at Trappist Monastery Provincial Heritage Park and you have a match made in heaven. Thanks again Matthew & Hope! Raezavel & Jarryd’s Stunning Winter Wedding @ St. Norbert Art Centre

Raezavel & Jarryd's stunning winter wedding at The St. Norbert Art Centre this past winter. Raezavel is a photographer herself and had a specific vision of what she wanted this wedding to be. The end result of all that planning is nothing less anything spectacular. The starry themed decorated venue combined with the blue tones & accents all come together so well. Such a gorgeous evening that won't be forgotten!  Kudos too all of the vendors that had a part in this wedding, but a special shoutout goes to Alli Polinsky of Alli Mae Events for bringing it all together. Sarah & Dan Stefura's Beautiful Barn Wedding @ Gables Wedding Barn

This beautiful wedding was well worth the wait after a couple of delays!

COVID has really put a damper on a lot of couples planning for a wedding the last two years. Sarah and Dan were originally suppose to get married back in 2020 but with lockdowns and restrictions, they thought it would just be better off to hold off until 2021. And boy was it worth the wait! We started with bride and groom prep. at the beautiful Fort Garry Hotel downtown and slowly made our way out to Gables Wedding Barn to end the night! In between we stopped at the new “Pump house” restaurant downtown for a quick snack and some pictures. What a fun night it was of family, dancing and of course a lot of drinking! Congratulations Dan and Sarah! I'm honoured I was able to capture this beautiful day for you guys!

Stepahine’s Boho Maternity Session at Allure Studios

Maternity sessions are some of my favourite images to capture as a photographer & combine that with a KICK ASS studio space = magic

I love shooting at the newly revamped Allure Studios. What the owner Neffi Bergen has done with that space has been nothing short of amazing. Combine that with this beautiful mother Stephanie and you have a match made in heaven for some beautiful portraits. I’ve known Stephanie for most of my life and we did end up working together for a short period of time at the hospital. So of course when she asked me to do these maternity photos for her, I was more than happy to capture these moments for her. These are to this day, still some of my favourite photos I’ve ever taken and it’s easy to see why. Thanks again Stephanie for letting me capture these for you!

Jasbir & Anna - Kildonan Park Elopement

Personally, you couldn’t have asked for a more elegant elopement. a short & sweet ceremony on a beautiful weekend morning!

I’ve personally known Jasbir for a couple of years through my full time job and when he had asked me to capture his short & sweet elopement with his beautiful bride to be Anna, I of course said yes! They both just wanted something simple but elegant. They scoped a couple of locations and settled on Kildonan Park. If you grew up in Winnipeg at all, you would know that this small but beautiful park has some hidden gems for photos. My most favourite spot being of course the ‘Witches Hut’ which as a kid, freaked me out because I actually thought there was a real witch living in the hut. Well 20+ years later I’m glad to know that there weren’t actually any witches living in there. Not that witches are real though…. right?

Daniel & Janessa - Dreamy Fall Afternoon @ Assiniboine Park

Getting to know my couples on a personal level is so important and helps the couple feel more relaxed and fun overall!

I’ve known Janessa & Daniel since our high school days over at St. Maurice School from over ten years ago. It’s crazy to think how much time has gone by, but never the less, I knew that having this prior relationship with these two would help with the photoshoot in getting more relaxed and fun photos! I find it so important to have some sort of connection with my families or couples on a more personal level. The leaves at Assiniboine Park hadn’t completely turned yellow or orange yet but there is just something about these greens and bright pinks and yellows that are so dreamy. The Pinterest Worthy Wedding Shower feat. Sarah

Summer 2020 seemed like a lifetime ago at this point, but one of the highlights was getting to photograph Sarah’s wedding shower.

To say that this wedding shower was Pinterest / Instagram worthy was an understatement. Sarah, Daniel, their families and friends cut no corners throwing this gorgeous outdoor party at their residence. From the decor, to the vast variety of food, the furniture and even the little details made this party a major hit! I’m so thankful of course that I continue to get to work with awesome couples like Sarah & Daniel. They’ve had to delay their wedding to 2021, but I expect nothing less than an extraordinary and beautiful wedding if this has any indication of what is to come.

Daniel & Sarah: Engagement Photoshoot in Gimli, Manitoba

I’ve known Sarah and Daniel for a while through their days playing dodge ball so I was super happy to know that they hired me to shoot their wedding! Sarah had suggested a spot right outside of Gimli, Manitoba by the beach and I’m so glad she picked this spot to do their engagement photos. This spot is just GORGEOUS! But it didn’t all go smoothly though. The wind was something else that day and the sky and haze that filled the air wasn’t ideal but we made the best of a mediocre situation and got some amazing photos. Sarah and Dan also wanted to have a little bit of fun at the end of their photo shoot as well. They told me they wanted to recreate some scenes from the 2016 movie, Mastermind and boy did they nail this! Overall, just a great afternoon with a great couple!

Thanks Sarah and Dan for the fun afternoon, I can’t wait for your wedding this upcoming November!

Vu & Mai’s Wedding in Winnipeg, Manitoba

2020 has been such an interesting year for couples planning their weddings during this COVID-19 pandemic. Vu and Mai were no exception to that. Leading up to their wedding day in late May, the Manitoba government at that point had shut down all non-essential services and businesses leading to a lot of couples who had 2020 wedding plans to completely change them. Luckily for us in early May, some of the restrictions were lifted so we were able to have a smaller wedding. It wasn’t exactly as they had hoped for as they wanted family from all across Canada and the United States to come and celebrate with them, but they made the best of the situation. 2020 is the year of the small intimate weddings and for some couples, it was a relief that they were even able to have a small function during the pandemic. Vu & Mai were the perfect clients to deal with, easy going and fun to work with, they made their small wedding work! Now they can look back 20 - 30 years from now and tell their kids that they were a part of history getting married during a global pandemic.

Movement Fitness and Performance: Inside Fitness Magazine

I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would ever be featured in a well known Canadian fitness magazine. But that is exactly what I found out last night. Earlier in the year, Cody Dietrich, founder and owner of Movement Fitness and Performance gym located in Winnipeg, MB was interviewed by Inside Fitness Magazine. I had been asked to take some headshots of Cody and of the gym itself to be featured in the magazine. Now that I’m able to physically see the the finished product it almost feels surreal that some of my photos were featured in such a prominent fitness magazine in Canada! Christian & Christina: Engagement Photoshoot

FINALLY! It’s starting to feel like life is starting to get back to normal after the initial pandemic lock down. With engagements and wedding season in full swing, I got to start off last weekend with a shoot with Christian and Christina at the St. Norbert Monastery Trappist Heritage Park. After looking at our calendars and initially having a hard time getting a date locked down where it wasn’t going to be raining (because lets be honest, it always rains when you have to go to an outdoor photo shoot). We were finally lucky to get the sun coming down right when we were there and that made for some GORGEOUS sunset photos.

When couples ask for recommendations for locations to do their engagement shoot, for some reason the monastery always slips my mind, so I’ll definitely be returning here more often this year. Otherwise, enjoy the some shots from Christian and Christina’s’ engagement shoot.

The Social Distancing Wedding Party Project

We’re living in such weird and fascinating times right now. With this whole COVID-19 pandemic in full effect, social distancing and self-isolation is just the new norm now. But that didn’t stop Andrew and Angelica from asking their wedding party to be a part of their special day next year in 2021. With the right precautions taken (6 feet apart, non contact, etc.) and myself equipped with my zoom lens so I could keep my distance as well, we stopped at each individuals home and played a little prank on them.

Andrew had this crazy idea and told his to be announced groomsmen that he was cooking protein balls and selling them on Instagram as a new side business. He wanted to swing by his friends’ homes to have them try his new “protein ball recipe”. What they actually were was Tim Hortons timbits cut in half. He would then swap out the timbits and surprise them with their groomsmen gifts! He asked me to tag along to capture this unique moment and the photos that came out of it were just awesome. Angelica, the fiancee was also doing her run of asking her bridesmaid as well to be a part of her special day so I stopped by and took a couple of photos for her as well.

Apex Elite: Athletic Brand Photoshoot

I’ve had the opportunity to shoot for and work with Daniel & Henry and their athletics and training company, Apex Elite for the last 2-3 years. I’ve worked and have assisted them in photographing a lot of their power lifting competitions held by the Manitoba Power lifting Association.

Daniel reached out to me in early February about the launch of their new clothing and apparel line and wanted me to take the lead on a styled shoot for marketing material. Of course, I was quick to say yes! They obviously have tailored their clothes to athletes but also wanted to reach out to the more casual everyday wear attire. They wanted their clothes to go beyond just the gym and have people appreciate their brand outside of the athletic community. So far so good, they’ve almost completely sold out of their stock and I couldn’t be more proud of Daniel and Henry. It’s been such a joy to see their rise in the athletic community here in Winnipeg and I do not doubt that this is just another stepping stone for them. Amy & Mike Maternity Photoshoot at Birds Hill Provincial Park

Amy & I first met back in the day and very early own she made it clear how excited she was to be pregnant and go through the entire process. I was very excited when she asked to do a maternity shoot with her husband Mike and her dog Chica in February because it had been a long time coming for her. Of course, going through school with Amy, I knew that she grew up in a little town called Oakbank, Manitoba and knew that she would lean towards some sort of outdoor location. So I suggested Birds Hill Provincial Park in the cedar forest and we were lucky that day to have the sun finally come out during the photo shoot! Both of these guys were super laid back and easy to work with, they didn’t really have anything specific they wanted. They just wanted to capture this pregnancy that Amy had been waiting for since I first met her.

Congrats Amy & Mike! You guys are going to make amazing parents!

Winnipeg Fringe Festival Summer Wedding

I had the opportunity last summer to be a part of a really unique wedding. I met Cathy-Anne through my regular day job and had met Justin shorty after. They were probably one of the most laid back and easy going couples I’ve had as clients thus far, and they really wanted a unique venue to be the backdrop of their wedding day. Cathy-Anne had pitched the idea to me of getting married on stage at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival where Justin and Cathy-Anne had first met years ago. Of course I jumped on board right away and was fair game to anything she had planned.

The day progressed as a typical wedding day would, starting at the brides home and getting ready with her ladies. From there though, things would get different real quick. We then headed over to the outdoor stage (a.k.a The Cube) and headed to the back stage area. Here we sat and relaxed for about an hour before taking the stage for the actual ceremony in front of the public, but more importantly, close friends and family. Justin and her best friend who was officiating took the stage and had a good couple of laughs before they said their vows to each other. Afterwards we headed to the rooftop nearby to take some beautiful sunset photos. Overall, just a fun filled day and unique one at that, thanks Cathy-Anne and Justin!
